On Monday, veteran Democratic strategist Paul Begala scrutinized President Donald Trump for failing to condemn Rep. Steve King's (R-IA) racist comments.
King, who has a history of racism said that he did not see anything offensive about the term "white nationalist."
Begala explained that past presidents have quickly condemned acts of racism in public.
"It is a moral obligation for a president to speak out against racism," Begala said while on a panel hosted by CNN's Jake Tapper.
"When a cross was burned in an African American families yard in Maryland in 1984, Ronald Reagan went to their home and denounced it. When David Duke emerged as a candidate for governor George H.W. Bush said 'he is an insincere charlatan.' This is what our president must do," Begala said.
He then said that President Trump will probably not denounce it anytime soon.
"I would not hold my breath waiting," he said.
