'What are you afraid of?' Hunter Biden's legal team calls out GOPers on public testimony

House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY), who has been a vociferous critic of Hunter Biden, is being criticized for failing to accept the president's son willingness to testify in a public hearing this month.

"Be careful what you ask for,” a source close to Hunter Biden's legal strategy told The Messenger. “Okay, we’re taking you up on your offer. Why drag this out? Let the world see it all. What are you afraid of?”

“Let’s. Get. To. It."

Hunter Biden, who has battled drug addiction and criminal charges, is being probed by House Republicans into his business dealings tied to the family. He came forward on Tuesday confirming he'd testify on Dec. 13 or “any date in December that we can arrange,” but would only do so if it's an open forum.

In a letter to Congress, Biden's attorney Abbe Lowell, called the Republican inquiry a “partisan crusade” and said he has watched as Comer used “closed-door sessions to manipulate, even distort the facts and misinform the public.”

“We have seen you use closed-door sessions to manipulate, even distort the facts and misinform the public,” Lowell added. “We therefore propose opening the door," the letter reads. "If, as you claim, your efforts are important and involve issues that Americans should know about, then let the light shine on these proceedings."

Comer refused the offer, requesting that Biden first appear before the oversight panel in a closed-door capacity and then perhaps he could still testify publicly later on.

“Our lawfully issued subpoena to Hunter Biden requires him to appear for a deposition on December 13,” Comer replied in a statement hours after Lowell's letter was received. “We expect full cooperation with our subpoena for a deposition but also agree that Hunter Biden should have [an] opportunity to testify in a public setting at a future date.”

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-NY) shot back at Republicans claiming what they fear the most is "sunlight and truth."

He asked: “Let me get this straight, after wailing and moaning for ten months about Hunter Biden and alluding to some vast unproven family conspiracy, after sending Hunter Biden a subpoena to appear and testify, Chairman Comer and the Oversight Republicans now reject his offer to appear before the full Committee and the eyes of the world and to answer any questions that they pose?”
