Idaho church evicting former priest after he was charged with child porn and drug possession

The Catholic Diocese of Boise, Idaho is intending to evict Rev. W. Thomas Faucher from his church-owned home, the Idaho Statemanreported Friday.

Church spokesman Gene Fadness said an eviction notice will be served on Friday afternoon.

Faucher, 72, a retired priest at Saint Mary’s Church in Boise, was arrested a week earlier on twelve felony child pornography charges and two misdemeanor counts of drug possession.

In a Monday court hearing, officials said they launched the investigation following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Deputy Ada County prosecutor Cathy Guzman said Faucher talked about his "desires to rape and kill children" during internet chats.

Faucher's attorney, Mark Manweiler, defended his client based upon friendships with public officials.

“He counts among his good friends people at the highest level of both branches, both of state government and our local government and some judicial officials here in Ada County," Manweiller claimed.
