A tearful Indiana housewife lashed out at gays, liberals, Muslims, and “lukewarm” Christians in a wacky four-and-a-half-minute video posted on her Facebook page.
Becky Wegner Rommel interrupted some light housework to record her overwrought rant, quickly working herself into a lather over anyone who is insufficiently angry over same-sex marriage.
“This is a very sad day for a lot of Christ followers because today our government decided that everything that God created his church to be -- as man, as woman, Adam and Eve -- five justices decided that God was wrong,” Rommel said.
She said that God had always intended for marriage to be a union between one man and one woman, and she reminded President Barack Obama that Islamic extremists were, in fact, Muslims.
“The fact is, the God of the universe – He is the truth,” Rommel said, her voice rising to a shout. “Jesus Christ, not Mohammed, OK? Just like these Islamic extreme-lists -- extremists, OK. They’re not just extremist, they’re Islamic, President Obama. Islamic extreme-lists.”
Rommel insisted she did not care what anyone thought about her beliefs, because she simply wanted them to hear the truth as she perceives it.
“I am so sick of people being lukewarm,” she said. “Are you serious? All these people saying they’re Christians are on the Facebook going, ‘Yay, I’m so proud of those justices’ – are you a Christian? Oh, my gosh – do you read the same Bible I read? OK, all I want to know is truth.”
“I don’t care if you’re my Facebook friend – but Christians are little Christs,” she continued. “Those are people that follow Christ. That means that we believe that when babies are born, when they’re conceived, Jesus said, ‘I knew you before you were conceived.’ That means that they are not to be aborted, OK? It means that a man and a wife are to be married, OK?”
Rommel burst out sobbing as she lectured insufficiently grateful Christians.
“He came to die on a cross because of you,” she shouted through tears, jabbing her finger at the viewer. “The very people that are just, like, spitting him in his face right now. He loved you so much that he died the sinner’s death. Now someone’s gotta pay for our sin – he did it on the cross for you. Now is the day that you accept him as lord and savior and you ask for forgiveness and tell him, ‘Lord, I made a mess of my life and I need you.’ Please, Christians, please make a stand. Make a stand for what you believe in. Don’t just sit there and say you don’t care.”
She continued sobbing as she prayed for more Americans to agree with her views.
“Dear Jesus in heaven, I just pray that these people wake up, Lord, that they see that our nation – the very men that made our Constitution, they were believing, they believed in you as lord and savior – these men did not expect our country to have this happen,” Rommel prayed. “I just pray that you forgive us, Lord. Forgive us, cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
