Internet ruthlessly mocks Roy Moore for tweeting ‘threat’ that happens to reference classic teen rom-com 'Bring It On'

Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore just can't stop losing.

On Wednesday evening, apparently responding to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's calls for him to drop out of the race, Moore told the Kentucky Republican to "bring. it. on."

Soon after, however, Twitter noticed that Moore's "threat" just happened to share a title with a 2000 teen comedy film about a rivalry between cheer squads at neighboring white and black high schools.

Given that an eighth and a ninth woman came forward to allege that Moore made unwanted and repeated advances on them a few hours before -- and that one said the then-30-year-old attorney called her at her high school after she turned him down once -- Twitter had a lot to say about it.

"Hey, maybe tweeting the name of a movie about high school cheerleaders isn’t your best move right now, slick," sports journalist Jesse Spector tweeted in response.

"Not the movie reference I would have chosen, given the circumstances," University of Washington law professor David Ziff quipped, "but okay."

CNN's Kasie Hunt added subtlety to the sh*tshow, tweeting a link to Moore's threat to actresses Kirsten Dunst, Eliza Dushku and Gabrielle Union, the film's stars.
