'It was murder, we all saw it': Internet horrified after mistrial in Walter Scott shooting by white cop

On Monday, a South Carolina judge declared a mistrial in the case of former police officer Michael Slager. Slager was initially charged with murder in 2015 after shooting and killing an unarmed black man named Walter Scott.

The incident was all captured on video and shows Slager shooting Scott in the back multiple times as Scott tried to run away from him. Judge Clifton Newman declared the case a mistrial after jurors reported that they were undecided.

On Friday, Scott's brother Anthony said, "We do believe within our hearts that we will see justice for my brother," BuzzFeed News reports. He had said at an earlier time, "No human being deserves to be gunned down from the back."

The world has watched too many times as American police officers get away with murdering unarmed black people across the country. Following the decision in Slager's case, the internet responded with calls of "Black Lives Matter." Some also pointed to San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick's kneeling protest.
