‘Classy as always’: CNN’s Jake Tapper chides Trump's furious insult for reporter

CNN’s Jack Tapper delivered a sarcastic response Thursday after President Donald Trump lashed out at a reporter who questioned his decision to cancel a campaign appearance in Kansas.

“Classy as always,” Tapper said after airing footage of Trump’s angry exchange with the reporter.

The outburst happened after Trump was asked why he abandoned plans to rally with Republican Sen. Roger Marshall, who is facing a tough reelection fight.

“I don’t feel like I have to go to Kansas,” Trump said, before snapping at the reporter when pressed about his health.

“You are disgusting,” the president said. “Put yourself in shape. You look like hell.”

Back in the CNN studio, Tapper couldn’t resist another jab.

“There should be a reverse-angle camera so I know who he’s talking about,” he said.

The White House told CNN that Trump would instead participate in more than 20 telephone rallies before Election Day, arguing they would help him reach more voters.

“I’m not sure I buy it,” Tapper remarked Thursday.

The CNN anchor then questioned whether Trump was deliberately distancing himself from Marshall.

“Roger Marshall’s not acting like a guy who thinks he's going to get reelected,” Tapper told his guest. “Do you think President Trump is trying to get away from the stink?”
