Jared Kushner seen as 'downright dangerous' by Trump's own former cabinet secretaries: author

Author Vicky Ward told CNN's John Berman on Wednesday that President Donald Trump's own top foreign policy officials considered son-in-law Jared Kushner to be "downright dangerous" given his meddling in Middle Eastern diplomacy.

During her interview with Berman, Ward explained that former Trump Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Secretary of Defense James Mattis became alarmed when Kushner successfully urged the United States to support an embargo of Qatar in 2017, despite the fact that Qatar is the site of a major American military base.

"Instead of solving Middle East peace, Jared nearly put us into a war in the region!" she exclaimed. "That is our security on the line. that was when Rex Tillerson and Jim Mattis, the defense secretary who had no idea about any of this, thought that Jared went from being a really annoying obstacle and meddler to being downright dangerous."

She said that Trump seemed to realize at various points that it was a bad idea to have Kushner and first daughter Ivanka Trump making policy in the White House, but he could never bring himself to fire them.

"He understood that they were a liability to him," she said. "He hated the negative press they garnered, particularly over, you know, Jared's inability to fill out his security clearance forms."
