White House senior advisor Jared Kushner comes off as "generally naive" in a new book detailing President Donald Trump's relationship with Capitol Hill.
"Politico Playbook" writers Jake Sherman and Anna Palmer authored The Hill To Die On, which was reviewed by Washington Post reporter Ashley Parker.
"Trump’s son-in-law and senior White House adviser, Jared Kushner, also appears several times, coming off as generally naive," Parker reported.
"In one anecdote before the election, the authors write that Kushner tells [then-Speaker Paul Ryan] he found congressional committees — which are the critical starting ground for the overwhelming portion of legislation — to be 'inefficient,'" she continued.
“‘We’ll get to that later,’ Kushner told Ryan’s aides, giving the impression he wanted to — and believed he could — single-handedly rewrite Congress’s two-hundred-year-old rules,” the book reports.
A source close to Kushner argued the anecdote was "nonsense" while claiming "Jared has immense respect for the workings of government."
