Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) said Thursday he and former President Donald Trump expect a difficult-to-define voting bloc will help them win the presidential election on Nov. 5.
Vance told podcaster Joe Rogan on Thursday that he believes that a certain kind of man is going to vote Republican and herald Trump's return to the White House in 2025.
"I think that, frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if me and Trump won just the normal gay guy vote," said Vance. "They just want to be left the hell alone and now you have all this crazy stuff on top of it."
Vance made his comment amid a conversation about support for trans rights that included Rogan, a former game show host with no medical training, explaining how the brain's frontal lobe works.
Vance bases this assumption on his friend in Austin whom he does not name but says was once a Reagan gay Democrat, is now voting for Trump and dislikes trans activism.
"A lot of gay guys feel like the whole movement is homophobic," Rogan said. "They think that a lot of this is being given, these thoughts are being given, to gay children."

Vance also detailed a story he'd heard, from a woman he did not name, about a sight she said she saw in New York City: a man in a miniskirt that did not cover his testicles.
"We're letting a grown man walk around in a miniskirt in broad daylight?" Vance said. "You're a pervert."
Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign shared Vance's comment about the "normal gay guy" vote with viewers on X.
Christopher Wiggins, a journalist with the gay news magazine The Advocate, responded to Vance's comment on "normal gay" support didn't ring true.
"My reporting shows that this isn’t true in any way," Wiggins wrote. "Firstly, not sure what a normal gay is, but most LGBTQ+ people are not voting against their own interests and for Project 2025."
According to an analysis from independent nonprofit news site The 19th, Project 2025 targets several federal protections for the LGBTQ+ community.
"Project 2025 envisions a federal government that denies the existence of transgender people, undermines the rights of same-sex married couples and dismantles services for LGBTQ+ Americans wherever possible," the analysis states.
"It states that children should be raised by their 'biological' fathers and mothers because the “male-female dyad is essential to human nature.”
