Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) wasted no time twisting the facts in the Jan. 6 case against President Donald Trump as former special counsel Jack Smith testified.
The Ohio Republican led the House Judiciary Committee hearing where Smith testified publicly for the first time about his investigation into Trump's alleged crimes related to the U.S. Capitol riot, and Jordan sought to undermine the case that led to the president's four-case indictment by suggesting the investigation was politicized and questioning the credibility of some witnesses.
"Jim Jordan just started speaking and has already lied. (Said Smith's team sought 'phone calls)," posted journalist Philip Bump. "He wastes no time. A master of efficiency."
"Also Jim Jordan is an idiot," said former Capitol police officer Harry Dunn. "It's been just 10 minutes and my brain hurts already."
"At the Jack Smith hearing, Jim Jordan is reading from a Washington Post editorial," observed veteran journalist Mark Jacob. "The WaPo edit page has become a colleague of Gateway Pundit, Breitbart and the Federalist."
"Note, Jim Jordan said that voters elected Trump twice," noted legal expert Marcy Wheeler. "That is, he confessed that Trump lost in 2020. Cancel the hearing. He just confessed to the crime."
"Jim Jordan is now hammering on Cassidy Hutchinson, and how Smith wouldn't use her as a witness in court," pointed out the popular Mueller, She Wrote account. "The reason isn't because she's a liar, but because her testimony was second-hand. Totally disingenuous of him to consider hearsay a lie."
"Jim Jordan needs to shut up already," replied Kat from the 'ville.
"Someone should educate Jim Jordan on the meaning of hearsay," urged Bluesky user Christie Breedlove. "He's clearly clueless."
"Jack Smith needs an academy award for his ability not to roll his eyes at and face punch Jim Jordan," agreed Bluesky user Patsy “Resistance Kitty” Evans.
"Never forget Jim Jordan asked for a pardon for January 6th as… Jim Jordan… grills Jack Smith about… January 6th," reminded Bluesky user Oswego Willy.
"Still laughing about Jim Jordan immediately bringing up one person's testimony that was admitted hearsay, trying to label them a liar for their hearsay, and then trying to insinuate everything is corrupt because one aspect of one person's testimony was hearsay and contradicted by other accounts," laughed Bluesky user the original Aloof Wife.
"Why is Jim Jordan still in Congress?" wondered Bluesky user sharlorr. "He acts like a raving lunatic. Never professional in any way. Loud, obnoxious and fails to wear a jacket like all the others in the room."
