Keith Olbermann: 'It is inarguable that Trump hates the Puerto Ricans'

Keith Olbermann, veteran journalist and host of GQ's "The Resistance," can't figure out why President Donald Trump went to Puerto Rico earlier this week and "pretend to care" about the citizens of the island territory.

"It is now clear, it is inarguable, it is inescapable, that he hates the Puerto Ricans," the host charged.

Trump's repeated mentions of Puerto Rico's debt make it seem "as if he were not the president of the United States, but the president of corporations."

To understand how "mentally ill" the president is, Olbermann said, one must look at where he grew up.

People of his generation born and raised in outer boroughs believed "the New York city in which they grew up...had been ruined by the Puerto Ricans."

That anti-Puerto Rican bias is evident, Olbermann continued, in films from the era in which Trump and the host himself grew up -- in the Romeo and Juliet allegory of "West Side Story" and the Puerto Rican defendant in "12 Angry Men."

"That very specific, very regional, very intense prejudice and bigotry and hatred is what surrounded Donald Trump as a child," he continued.

That Trump "has no heart" or empathy, he concluded, only exacerbates the issue.
