Kent State grad who posed with rifle whines she’s the victim of ‘blatant’ racism: ‘They’re saying I have white privilege’

A conservative activist says she's the victim of "blatant racism" in the backlash to photos she posted of herself posing with a semi-automatic rifle on the campus of Kent State.

Kaitlin Bennett celebrated her graduation from the northeast Ohio university by strolling around campus with an AR-10 rifle, which is prohibited by student conduct policies.

"Now that I graduated from @KentState, I can finally arm myself on campus," Bennett, who earned a degree in biology, tweeted Sunday. "I should have been able to do so as a student — especially since 4 unarmed students were shot and killed by the government on this campus."

The 22-year-old Bennett was referring to the massacre of four student protesters in 1970 by National Guardsmen who opened fire on a Vietnam War demonstration.

Bennett appeared Thursday morning on "Fox & Friends," where she complained about the backlash she's faced for the political stunt.

"It's been crazy," she said. "I was not expecting the blatant racism that's been thrown at me, the outright death threats."

Co-host Steve Doocey asked Bennett to describe the racist discrimination she faced for carrying the rifle on campus and posing for photos.

"They are saying that I have white privilege for going out on campus with my AR-10," Bennett said.

"They are saying this all has to do with me being white that I was able to do this," she added. "I think that's very insulting to minorities, I don't think that anything would happen to them. I actually had a black police officer with me the whole time that was just -- he loved it. So, you know, it's just insulting."

Bennett said her stunt had drawn a job offer from the Cuyahoga Falls gun seller Blue Target Firearms, and she plans to engage in more armed political demonstrations.
