House GOPer exasperated with McCarthy's 'total nonsense' leadership

More than a few House Republicans are growing increasingly worried that a imminent government shutdown will wind up costing them control of the chamber and all because House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) won't pull the trigger and work with Democrats on a budget bill that the Senate will agree with.

According to a report from Politico, the embattled McCarthy, who is locked in a death-match with Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) that could lead to the end of his speakership, is staring into the "abyss" as the deadline looms.

Based upon a serious belief that nothing will get done in the next seven days -- with the House only meeting for four days -- caucus members are growing more vocal about the whole process that is being held hostage by extremist members demanding more budget cuts that will never get past the Senate leading to even more humiliation.

According to Republican Arkansas Rep. Steve Womack, "“This is not checkers. This is chess. You got to understand that this next move by the House is not going to be the final answer."

He added, "Eventually, the Senate will weigh in … and it’s not going to be to our liking, and probably going to be pushed into our face and say: ‘Take it or leave it.’ And then the speaker will have a very difficult decision.”

Rep. John Duarte (R-CA), who already faces a battle to keep his seat, has had it with his far-right colleagues and McCarthy's dithering and not reaching out to Democrats.

“If we lose control of Congress over this complete nonsense, we’re going to go from several hundred billion dollars in lost opportunity back to the $5 [trillion] or $10 trillion that we saw the last time the Democrats had control of the House, the Senate and the presidency,” he complained before adding, "We’re risking the financial sustainability of the United States, because a few guys want to raise money on their social media feeds."
