Morning Joe rips 'idiot' Kevin McCarthy for 'shameful' defense of Trump in documents case
MSNBC's Joe Scarborough mocked House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's attempted defense of Donald Trump in the classified documents case.
The California Republican insisted he wasn't concerned about the former president's mishandling of nuclear secrets and other sensitive materials, saying that "a bathroom door locks" in reference to alarming photos of government documents stashed in Mar-a-Lago shown in the indictment.
"It's like fighting with an idiot," the "Morning Joe" host said. "There's no need to fight with an idiot. That's just the dumbest argument. It's insanity."
"It's shameful, shameful," said co-host Willie Geist.
"Do we have to say bathroom doors lock in the inside?" added co-host Mika Brzezinski. "Maybe you have to be inside the bathroom, flushing them down the toilet."
"This is the speaker of the House, not some random podcaster, this is from the speaker of the House saying what I saw in those pictures, what I read in the indictment, eh, not so bad," Geist said. "Kind of like what Joe Biden did, returning documents when he was confronted with it, did not obstruct returning returning them in a garage somewhere."
