Larry David returns to SNL and brings down the house again as a cranky Bernie Sanders

In the role of a lifetime he seems destined to play, comedian and actor Larry David reprised his dead-on impersonation of Sen. Bernie Sanders on Saturday Night Live, this time sitting down for an interview with Rachel Maddow (played by cast member Cecily Strong).

On an evening when the studio audience was keyed up to see GOP presidential front runner Donald Trump make his hosting debut, David as Sanders thrilled the crowd entering for a sit-down with Maddow.

David built upon his earlier interpretation of Sanders on SNL, grumbling and complaining about crumbling infrastructure saying , "I no longer drive on bridges or through tunnels... it's too risky. Instead I keep a kayak strapped to the roof of my car," before admitting he also hates everyone.

"Of course I hate you," he told Maddow. "I hate everyone. What's to like? The only people I like are my seven adorable grandchildren. The youngest one is so cute. He just turned 40."

Asked later to phone his "crush," the Sanders demurred, saying "it would take too long."

"Because my crush is every black person in America," he explained, earning a side-eye from black cast member Leslie Jones.

"Black people love me, Rachel," he continued. "When I ran for senator in Vermont, I got 50 percent of the black vote. His name was Marcus."

David returned later to heckle Trump during his opening monologue, calling him "a racist" because he heard he could make $5,000 dollars for yelling it.
