Law firm representing Jared Kushner has ties to Russian bankers and oil companies: report

According to the New York Law Journal, New York law firm, Chadbourne & Parke, and its international merger partner, Norton Rose Fulbright boasts on its website that it advised Russia's Sberbank during the acquisition of a 20 percent stake in a mineral deposit development company. It also helped a bank subsidary to acquire equity in a Russian retail group in debt restructuring.

Chadbourne also worked for the Russian state oil company Rosneft, helping them navigate financing and structuring projects with BP and with U.S. oil and gas companies. The firm also boasts that it served as a legal expert at the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce for the Russian Federation. In fact, Chadbourn was one of the first international firms that was allowed to have law offices in Moscow in 1990.

The firm has a history with Trump as well, helping guide the owner of the Trump Ocean Club hotel and condo in Panama City. They represented JPMorgan Securities Inc. as solicitation agent. When it filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in 2013, it represented them again.

Kushner's new lawyer, Abbe Lowell, has already weighed in on the Russia scandal. During a March interview with MSNBC, he noted the strange coincidence of both Trump and former Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn blasting those who are granted immunity to testify. Months later, Flynn begged for immunity if he agreed to talk to the FBI. They declined. Trump later encouraged Flynn to take the immunity if it was offered.

"It is a little ironic, right, that both President Trump and Mike Flynn himself, during the campaign, both made those ridiculous statements that if somebody gets immunity, they must be guilty of something. But that's ," Lowell said.

He went on to say that there might not be anything to it and he believes that the "presumption of innocence" is important and "means something."
