Appearing on CNN, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham admitted that he is warming up to the idea of a Donald Trump presidency, saying he has a "fifty-fifty chance of winning."
Speaking with host Kate Bolduan, the southern senator who previously said the GOP needed to tell Trump to "go to Hell" adding that he would cost the party the election to Hillary Clinton, struck a more conciliatory note.
"Well, I'll talk to him, " Graham explained when asked if he had "warmed up" to the presumptive GOP nominee. "I think he's taken the party down a road that I choose not to go. But he's got a fifty-fifty chance to be the president of the United States. He did an amazing thing: he beat me and, you know, sixteen other people."
Graham also said that, although Trump has caused turmoil within the GOP, he sees the fight between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders as being dangerous to the U.S.
"I don't know. we've got our problems inside the Republican Party, but I tell you this division in the Democratic Party worries me as an American," he explained. "I can see a version of the Tea Party being formed in the Democratic Party from the left going after moderate Democrats who won't toe the line toward a socialist agenda and you're going to wind up not being able to do anything."
