Man held without bond after threatening White House killing spree

Louis Capriotti, 45, was ordered held without bond by a Chicago district court this Wednesday after he was arrested and charged for leaving a threatening voicemail for a member of Congress from New Jersey, ABC7 reports.

"Threats hurt people," U.S. Magistrate Judge Gabriel Fuentes said, according to the Chicago Tribune. "They terrorize people. They make people afraid. There's an argument to be made that's what they're intended to do in the first place."

In a recording of the voicemail, Capriotti can be heard threatening to kill Democrats including President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and others at the White House.

"We will surround the m-----f------ White House and we will kill any m-----f------ Democrat that steps on the m-----f------ lawn... If they think that Joe Biden is going to put his hand on the Bible and walk into that f------ White House on January 20th, they're sadly f------ mistaken," Capriotti says in the voicemail.

According to investigators, Capriotti has been menacing members of Congress for years. He has also identified himself as "a nine-year marine, active duty." However, prosecutors allege that he never served in the military.

"Our office takes the security of our public servants very seriously," U.S. Attorney John Lausch said. "Individuals who cross the line of free speech by making unlawful threats will be held accountable."
