Man who claimed ‘Antifa’ stabbing over white supremacist haircut admits he made up attack

A man who claimed that he was stabbed by an Antifa activist earlier this month has confessed to fabricating the entire incident.

The Denver Post reports that police in Sheridan, Colorado, arrested 26-year-old Joshua Witt for falsely telling them that he was stabbed in the hand on August 16 by a man who approached him and asked him if he was a neo-Nazi.

Specifically, Witt claimed that someone had approached him and assumed that he was a neo-Nazi based on his haircut, which looks similar to high-profile neo-Nazis such as Richard Spencer.

Witt's fabricated story about the alleged stabbing gained national attention after he posted photos of his wounded hand on Facebook and claimed it was the work of an Antifa activist.

However, police became suspicious of Witt's story after they reviewed surveillance footage from the location where the stabbing allegedly occurred and could find no evidence of anyone fleeing from the scene as Witt had described.

Police confronted Witt about this -- and he admitted that he'd actually cut his own hand by accident while his car was parked at a nearby Steak ‘n Shake. Police charged Witt with filing a false report to officers, and he now faces a fine as high as $2,650 and up to one year in jail.
