A ritzy sex ring whose clientele includes politicians and members of the military has been busted for peddling prostitution in Massachusetts and Virginia, federal prosecutors announced Wednesday.
The purported brothel proffered online nude models ready to be photographed at high-price apartments to patrons who also included security-cleared government contractors and tech company executives, said acting Massachusetts U.S. Attorney Josh Levy.
"This commercial sex ring was built on secrecy and exclusivity, catering to a wealthy and well-connected clientele, Levy said at a press conference. "Business was booming, until today."
The brothel's bevy of top-drawer Johns haven't been named or charged, but Levy notes the investigation is just beginning.
Court records show three people accused of conspiring to coerce and entice others to travel to engage in illegal sex activity have been charged: Han Lee 41, of Massachusetts, James Lee, 68, of California and Junmyung Lee, 30, of Massachusetts.
Messages sent to the trio's attorney by the Associated Press did not receive an immediate reply.
A Homeland Security Investigations agent testified that women, who were listed on the website by weight and their bust size, were selected by buyers who agreed to pay an hourly rate via text.
Prosecutors contend "appointment" prices ranged from $350 to $600 per hour, depending on the services, and clients paid in cash.
Evidence also includes images of a "BEG" menu and a text message warning not to make direct deals with girls.
"If you get caught," the text reads, "we won't accept anymore appointments."
