Pardoned Jan. 6 rioter shot dead while resisting arrest during traffic stop: police

A Jan. 6 rioter pardoned by President Donald Trump was shot dead Sunday in Indiana after resisting arrest, Indiana State Police said.

A deputy with the Jasper County Sheriff's Department pulled over Matthew Huttle, 42, of Hobart, Indiana, around 4:15 p.m. Sunday, according to Fox 59.

The deputy attempted to arrest Huttle, who had a gun. Huttle was shot while resisting arrest. Further details were not immediately available.

In 2023, Huttle was sentenced to six months in federal prison and a year of supervised release for taking part in the riot at the U.S. Capitol. Authorities said Huttle remained in the Capitol for 16 minutes during the riot.

Huttle's uncle, Dale Huttle, was also arrested for his role in the Jan. 6 attack. Both men were tried on 12 counts.

"I have no regrets. I will not say I’m sorry," the uncle said in a news conference following the riot.
