Melania Trump tries to have it both ways on sex assault claims: 'I do stand with women, but we need to show the evidence'

Melania Trump demanded "hard evidence" as the only standard of proof for sexual assault -- but insisted she stands with women.

The first lady appeared Wednesday on ABC's "Good Morning America," where she commented on the #MeToo movement after her husband's Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed despite sexual assault allegations.

"We need to have hard evidence that, you know, that if you are accused of something, show the evidence," she said.

"I do stand with women, but we need to show the evidence," Trump said. "You cannot just say to somebody, I was, you know, sexually assaulted and you did that to me or -- because sometimes the media goes too far and the way they portray some stories, it's not correct. It's not right."
