Michael Cohen sues Trump Organization to force president’s company to pay his legal bills

Former Trump "fixer" Michael Cohen sued the Trump Organization on Thursday and demanded that his former employer pay the legal fees he's accrued while defending himself against multiple criminal charges.

In a lawsuit filed with the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Cohen's attorneys allege that the Trump Organization has failed to meet its "indemnification obligations under a contractual agreement between the Trump Organization and Mr. Cohen" in which the organization had agreed to repay Cohen for legal expenses accrued while working on its behalf.

The lawsuit says that the Trump Organization owes Cohen money for the legal expenses resulting from "multiple congressional hearings, Special Counsel Robert S.

Mueller III’s investigation, and others" over the past two years.

Cohen's attorneys allege that the Trump Organization stopped paying his legal bills in June 2018, which was when Cohen started talking openly about cooperating with the special counsel's investigation, as well as cooperating with separate investigations being run by the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York.
