Michele Bachmann: Americans aren’t as excited about end times as ‘obsessed’ Islamic countries

Former presidential candidate and Rep. Michele Bachmann (R) is apparently very envious of Middle Eastern countries because she believes they are "obsessed with end times and bringing about end times" while Americans are overly blasé about it, Right Wing Watch reports.

Joining Christian radio host Jan Markell, Bachmann and Markell speculated the Apocalypse is so close that it might happen while they were still taping their segment.

"Shia Islam believes that the end times and the hidden imam, the twelfth imam comes about through an apocalypse, in other words something that we would think of as nuclear destruction," Bachmann said. "They believe nuclear destruction brings about their culmination... I don't understand why any pulpit right now wouldn't also observe the times that we live in and explain it from a biblical perspective."

The comment was in response to Markell, who noted that Iran is very "apolyptic-oriented."

"They're looking for a messiah. They're very end-time focused," Markell said. "And yet our churches are absolutely bankrupt when it comes to talking about... what the Bible has to say about the incredible last days that we are in... Here we've got an Islamic country excited about the end times. We've got America bored with the fact that we're in the end times."

Bachmann also lamented that "no one is fighting back against Barack Obama's dangerous policies" that are pointing the country in "severe decline."

We want to maintain our status as an economic and military superpower house, but for what reason? We got to that level because we were built on strong Judeo-Christian values, values that we weren't ashamed of. When we raise our fist to a holy God and say that we are going to redefine marriage, we are going to be okay with paying a Planned Parenthood to cut up innocent baby parts and sell them for research, that clearly is a problem and as we have seen God render judgment in the days of Noah, in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah and so forth throughout history, what the prophets have told every generation is that there is a just God and the people must repent and turn to him. So too in this day of wickedness in our own culture, we need to do the same. We need to repent and we need to confess because a holy Savior is coming to save us and redeem us from this sin-sick world.

Bachmann implied earlier this month that she supported the idea of bombing Iran with nuclear weapons.

"As we stand here today, you can end this nuclear program today,” she had told The Daily Caller. “All you do is deliver bombs on the nuclear hardware. We’re not talking about bombing shopping centers and killing innocent kids in Iran. We’re talking about taking out weapons of death — that’s the nuclear hardware.”

Iran’s main nuclear site is built under a mountain and thus could require nuclear weapons instead of conventional weapons to destroy it if a strike were ever ordered.
