Former House Select Committee member Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) tore into the Republicans spreading a fresh round of conspiracy theories about the Capitol attack on MSNBC Monday, following the move by House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) to release the entirety of the Capitol security footage of the incident.
In particular, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) promoted the idea that Kevin Lyons, a rioter sentenced to four years in prison for assaulting police, was an FBI plant because he could supposedly be seen flashing a police badge at agents. The object in his hand was actually a vape pen, and many other far-right figures who pushed the claim later scrambled to delete it — but Lee still has not.
"When asked for comment from NBC, a spokesman for Senator Lee dodged the question about the man with the vape or the e-cigarette and then listed questions about other rioters," said anchor Alicia Menendez. "You were part of the bipartisan congressional panel that investigated the insurrection. You studied this day thoroughly. What do you say back to your Republican colleagues?"

"Well, I'm really embarrassed for them," said Lofgren, who has continued to speak out on the 2020 election and Jan. 6 attack.
"Many of them were evacuated along with me," she continued. "They know that this was not a normal day of tourists visiting. They know that more than 160 police officers were injured, some so seriously that they had to leave the force. And they know that hundreds of these rioters have been convicted by a jury of their peers because of the overwhelming evidence."
"I guess they must think their supporters are dumb, that they will somehow convince them that what happened didn't happen," Lofgren added. "You know, don't believe your lying eyes. It's really — it's really pathetic."
