Missouri man admits to mailing cat poop to employers who rejected him

A St. Louis man who admitted to mailing cat feces to prospective employers was sentenced last week to probation.

Jevons Brown packaged the poop in frustration and sent it to companies that passed on hiring him, according to court records.

U.S. Postal Service inspectors tracked 20 such packages to the 58-year-old military veteran.

Brown pleaded guilty in August to a misdemeanor charge of mailing injurious articles.

“This is not a victimless crime,” said Assistant U.S. Attorney John Bodenhausen in court Friday.

The prosecutor said the packages could have harmed postal workers and anyone whose mail was adjacent to Brown’s packages.

Bodenhausen and Brown’s public defender agreed that probation was the appropriate sentence, citing his minimal criminal record.

Brown said he has undergone counseling and has recently found a job.

“I'm sorry,” he said in court. “This will never happen again.”
