Mitch McConnell warns parts of Mueller report could be leaked as Barr works on redactions

As the Wall Street Journal notes, all of Washington and, indeed the country, awaits the release of Attorney General Bill Barr's reviewed and redacted version of special counsel Robert Mueller's report on President Donald Trump.

According to the report, attorneys for the president are at the same time preparing a rebuttal, whittling down a 140 pages long document that Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani indicated would come in at approximately 50 pages.

Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is frantic that nothing from the report -- which is expected to be heavily redacted -- be made public until Republicans are prepared to defend it and the embattled AG Barr.

According to the Journal, McConnell warned of possible leaks, saying, "Not only this administration but previous administrations have discovered that if they show everything up here, it has a tendency to get out."

As for the Democrats, the Journal reports, "Lawmakers have begun making backup plans for obtaining withheld information. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (D., N.Y.) has said he would issue subpoenas to obtain the unredacted report and underlying documents, putting Congress on track for a court fight with the Trump administration."
