MSNBC panel mocks Trump telling Fox 'I wasn't on the ballot' -- after telling supporters election was about him

President Donald Trump spent the majority of the weeks leading up to the election telling his supporters that they should vote like his name is on the ballot. Yet, when Trump spoke to Fox News host Chris Wallace, the president said Republicans didn't succeed in the 2018 midterm election because he wasn't on the ballot.

"I didn't run," Trump told Wallace. "I wasn't running. My name wasn't on a ballot."

Wallace told Trump Republicans didn't carry Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota.

"You're not going to get reelected," Wallace told the president.

MSNBC host Alex Witt noted just how short the president's memory seems to be. "How do you make heads or tails of that?" she asked. "Didn't we hear the president saying, vote for me, pretend you're voting for me my name is on the ballot? Didn't we hear that left and right?"

"Listen, the guy is a crazy person and a liar," former Gov. Howard Dean explained. "There's nothing new about that. I don't make much of it. I don't pay much attention to what Trump says anymore. Totally unrelated [to] reality in 98 percent of cases. What do you expect? He said both things. They're in total opposition. Let's move on to something that matters for the American people. This guy's a whack job."

Even Republican strategist Susan Del Percio said she couldn't understand how Trump could say that he "won the Senate and then in the same breath say that he didn't lose anything else because his name wasn't on the ballot."
