MSNBC panelists heaps ridicule on Trump over Florence comments: 'He sells the hurricane the way he'd sell a condo'

While discussing the Trump administration's preparations for Hurricane Florence as it prepares to make landfall in the Carolinas, MSNBC's Chuck Todd noted that President Donald Trump's comments about the superstorm were a bit off.

"He does seem to sell the hurricane the way he sells a condo," Todd said, eliciting laughter from his panelists.

"I'm serious!" the host said before playing a clip of the president's remarks about Florence.

"They say it's about as big as they've seen coming to this country and certainly to the East Coast, as they've ever seen," Trump said in a video published to his Twitter account earlier in the day. "We'll handle it. Get out of its way, don't play games with it, it's a big one."

"It may be as big as they've seen and tremendous amounts of water," the president added. 

Todd noted that the Washington Post's Ashley Parker wrote in an editorial about Trump's Florence comments "have offered a particularly revealing glimpse into Trump's penchant for the dramatic."

"He absolutely speaks in hyperbole," NBC correspondent Julia Ainsley noted. "You can see his strategy here. Does he want to show after this if we do have a great recovery effort, it was him, he stood up to this?"

"He alone can fix it," the host quipped, referencing the Trump's "I alone can fix it" comments at the 2016 Republican National Convention.
