MSNBC's Elise Jordan shames Baptist pastor who attacked her for calling Trump a 'scumbag'

MSNBC's Elise Jordan used an insulting word to describe President Donald Trump's moral character -- and she shamed a Baptist pastor who complained that was unfair.

The political analyst and former Bush administration official appeared Wednesday on "Morning Joe," where she expressed doubt that Trump's base would care whether he was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in a criminal case.

"The short answer is no," Jordan said. "It’s very baked in as of now, and is not going to change that Donald Trump is indeed a scumbag. Voters know that."

She said many Trump voters are able to excuse his treatment of women, although she said many women are uncomfortable with his attitude and behavior.

"Look at the Republican Party, big picture, just how they have lost completely any credibility as a moral force for virtue as they continue to lie and deny that what Donald Trump has done is wrong," Jordan said.

Some of Trump's supporters complained about her choice of language, including Don Fugate, senior pastor of Foxworthy Baptist Church in San Jose, California.

"How dare you call the President of the United States a scumbag," Fugate tweeted the MSNBC analyst. "That says a lot about you. Unfortunately, objective journalism is dead in the US."

Jordan, however, questioned Fugate's moral leadership.

"Pastor, thanks for watching," Jordan replied. "I am a commentator and never claim to be objective. I grew up Southern Baptist and Good Lord I never thought I'd see the day when a Baptist preacher defended the morality of a serial adulterer."
