Muslim congresswoman calls out GOP lawmaker's bigotry -- and he predictably 'loses his marbles'

A Republican congressman freaked out when Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), a Muslim and a Somali-American, was selected to serve on a committee with influence over U.S. foreign policy, and he melted down again when she called out his bigoted remarks.

Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) took a shot at the Minnesota Democrat, based on her religious background, when announcing his own selection as the ranking member of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.

"Was just selected as Ranking Member of the @HouseForeign Subcommittee on Oversight & Investigations!" Zeldin tweeted Tuesday. "Just learned Freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar was also put on this committee w oversight of US foreign policy. Crazy to watch what House Dems are empowering/elevating."

Omar fired back by calling the New York Republican a bully, and predicted Zeldin would not react sensibly to her challenge.

"Don’t mind him, he is just waking up to the reality of having Muslim women as colleagues who know how to stand up to bullies!" Omar tweeted Wednesday night. "It’s gonna be fun watching him lose his marbles."

Zeldin issued an emotionally fraught tweet a couple of hours later, suggesting that Omar had sympathy toward Islamic terrorists.

"Those poor innocent ISIS fighters & Palestinian terrorists right? Give me a break!" Zeldin tweeted. "That’s a problem no matter your religion or gender Ilhan. Your anti-Semitic & anti-Israel hate is strong & wrong & those terrorists have US blood on their hands as well."
