President Donald Trump taunted congressional Democrats as his administration continues to hold child migrants captive in exchange for his demands for a border wall.
The Trump administration is holding thousands of children in detention centers after separating families crossing the border under a new zero-tolerance policy, and the president insists Democrats are to blame.
"It’s the Democrats fault, they won’t give us the votes needed to pass good immigration legislation," Trump tweeted. "They want open borders, which breeds horrible crime. Republicans want security. But I am working on something - it never ends!"
The president refuses to end the controversial family separation policy -- which his attorney general described as a deterrent to would-be immigrants -- until Democrats cave into his legislative demands.
