'Literally nobody asked for this': Internet says hell no to Mark Zuckerberg's new Facebook dating feature

An announcement by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg  that the social media behemoth is rolling out a dating feature that would allow users to connect with perfect strangers was met with a resounding "don't want" on Twitter by users who are already wary after Facebook allowed their private info to be misused during the 2016 election.

According to TechCrunch, the new feature would be available for those who wish to opt in, allowing Facebook's algorithms to match users based on preferences.

Coming on the heels of revelations that the political firm, Cambridge Analytica, was hired by the Trump campaign to use acquired access to private data on millions of Facebook users in order to sway the election with the help of Russian trolls, many social media observers found the proposal tone-deaf, with one person suggesting, "Facebook Dating is the perfect way to meet your Russian mail-order bot."
