Nikki Haley abruptly resigns from her post as Trump's UN ambassador: report

Nikki Haley has abruptly resigned from her post as President Donald Trump's ambassador to the United Nations, reports Axios' Jonathan Swan.

According to Swan, "Haley discussed her resignation with Trump last week when she visited him at the White House" and that "her news shocked a number of senior foreign policy officials in the Trump administration."

In his report, Swan also tried to downplay speculation that Haley was the author of the infamous New York Times op-ed that claimed multiple administration officials were working to stop him from implementing a destructive agenda.

In particular, Swan noted that Haley personally wrote an editorial countering the assertions made by the anonymous op-ed writer.

Shortly after Swan's scoop broke, both CNN and the New York Times subsequently confirmed that Haley will be stepping down.

Shortly after news of Haley's resignation broke, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced that Trump and Haley would be appearing in a joint press event at 10:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday.
