NY Times shares photo montage to give stark warning about election

A damning photo and video montage published Tuesday detailed major events that occurred during former President Donald Trump's term in office — and warned that the consequences of awarding him a second one could be even worse.

When Trump was in office, The New York Times wrote in its preface, "the country lurched from one crisis to the next, from the migrant families separated at the border to the sudden spike in prices caused by his trade war with China to the reckless mismanagement of the Covid pandemic. And he showed, over and over, how little respect he has for the Constitution and those who take an oath to defend it."

"For Americans who may have forgotten that time, or pushed it from memory, we offer this timeline of his presidency," the paper wrote.

The year 2017 opened with a clip of former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer picking a fight with reporters over how big Trump's inauguration crowd size was. It then went straight into images of deportations, protests against the Muslim travel ban, the Charlottesville neo-Nazi rally and Trump's response to it, protests abroad against Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, desperate families impacted by Trump's child separation policy, Trump ingratiating himself to Russia's Vladimir Putin, and government buildings shut down as Trump tried to force Congress to give him border funding.

And that was just the first two years. Further pictures showed migrants running after Trump suggesting they should be shot in the legs, Trump defending his phone call with Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelenskyy that led to his first impeachment, George Floyd protesters standing off against police, and horrific scenes from the beginning of the pandemic amid the federal government's botched response — complete with a video of Trump asking if people could protect themselves by using bleach as medicine.

The final images from the montage showed Trump supporters protesting election results around the country, culminating in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol and the violent assault on police officers.
