Obama ethics director says he's taking to the streets if Trump fires Robert Mueller or Rod Rosenstein

Former Director of Government Ethics Walter Shaub has said in the past that if President Donald Trump were to fire special counsel Robert Mueller the only proper place for patriotic Americans is in the streets. He reiterated that fact in a Wednesday discussion with CNN's Don Lemon.

"There are a number who have planned marches including MoveOn.org, and there's going to be very rapid response," he said. "If it happens, I would absolutely be out there, and I would encourage every other citizen who cares about America and the rule of law to get themselves out there within minutes, if they can, of either Mueller or [Rod] Rosenstein being fired. Because at this point it really is a direct attack on the rule of law."

He went on to explain that if Trump were to go that route, it would be a statement that he believes that he is above the rule of law and cannot be investigated.

"Let's not forget that Donald Trump admitted to the world that the real reason he fired James Comey was because he didn't like being investigated," Shaub continued. "So, he's already been through one investigator in this same investigation, and now he would be going through another investigator. At what point does it stop?"

Lemon read off a press release from MoveOn.org that revealed over 300,000 Americans in all 50 states have pledged to take to the streets if Mueller or Rosenstein were to be fired.
