In his Friday opening monologue, "Real Time" host Bill Maher claimed that President Donald Trump's announcement that he was bombing Syria had been on hold until Fox News approved of it.
"Trump was going to back down on Syria but he got the go ahead from 'Fox & Friends,'" Maher said, a little too on the nose.
“If the president, and France, and the UK decide to strike Syria, don’t you think that story would be a bigger story than Comey’s book that’s going to be released on Tuesday?” Ainsley Earhardt asked Friday morning.
"I don't want to say this attack was meant to distract from his other problems, but it's called Operation Desert Stormy," Maher said.
The audience both applauded and exclaimed "ohhh" for the implication that Trump was attacking Syria to distract from his own personal political problems. MSNBC host Rachel Maddow didn't agree with Maher during her show, however, she noted that U.S. allies along with the global community will see it that way.
