President Trump tweets 'deepest sympathies and respect' to the family of John McCain

President Donald Trump has tweeted about Arizona Republican Senator John McCain, who died of brain cancer Saturday at the age of 81.

"My deepest sympathies and respect go out to the family of Senator John McCain. Our hearts and prayers are with you!" the president tweeted.

The tweet was notable given Trump's constant and very strident criticism of his fellow Republican, who reportedly asked that Trump not be invited to his funeral.
