A protester was shot and wounded Thursday night by snipers who opened fire on a "Black Lives Matter" demonstration.
Shetamia Taylor was shot in the right calf after throwing herself over her sons to shield them from gunfire that killed five police officers and wounded six more, reported the Associated Press.
The 37-year-old Taylor had taken her four sons, ages 12 to 17 years old, to the demonstration.
Her sister said Taylor, the only civilian shot in the attack, is undergoing surgery for the gunshot wound but is expected to recover.
