Rep. Cummings calls BS on Giuliani's claim he's not getting info from FBI: ‘Giuliani knows better’

Trump surrogate Rudy Giuliani has been giving interviews all day Friday about his connections to FBI and former FBI agents, though he hasn't been consistent in his appearances.

During a CNN interview on Friday night, Wolf Blitzer called Giuliani out on his lies about his FBI connects. And Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings joined in afterwards and followed suit.

Cummings, who is a representative on the House Oversight Committee wrote in an open letter to the Justice Department that it was unacceptable for the FBI to "leak unsubstantiated — and in some cases false — information about one presidential candidate to benefit the other candidate. Leaking this information to former FBI officials as a conduit to the Trump campaign is equally intolerable."

Blitzer asked what kind of evidence Cummings had to make such allegations.

"I'm not sure of why they're doing it," Cummings says. "But you just had Mr. Giuliani on your show a few minutes ago, and he made it clear, Wolf, that he was getting information from former FBI agents."

Cummings continues, ripping into Giuliani, "Now, Mr. Giuliani knows better. He's a federal — well, he's a former federal prosecutor. You don't use the former prosecutors to launder information coming from the FBI. That's basically what he said and that's not right."

"We don't have a system of justice here where you take, you know, innuendo and vague announcements and put people's careers and lives and livelihood in jeopardy. We just don't do that."

Cummings suggests how "normally" when one asks the FBI about an investigation, "99.999 percent, they say 'no comment.'"

"And here, almost on a daily basis, sometimes three and four times a day, we've been getting these leaks coming out of the FBI and it should concern all of us."
