Right-wing biographer: Oprah won't promote Obamacare because the president hurt her feelings

Oprah Winfrey won’t help the President Barack Obama promote his new health care law because her feelings are still hurt over a perceived slight, according to a New York Post report.

Author Ed Klein, who’s written provocative and widely criticized biographies of Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, says Winfrey is still miffed that she wasn’t brought into the Obamas’ inner circle after campaigning for the president during the 2008 election.

Klein, who’s recently been that Obama planned the government shutdown with his trusted advisor Valerie Jarrett to make Republicans look bad, said the president had been counting on the “Queen of All Media” to help convince Americans to enroll in health insurance exchanges created by the Affordable Care Act.

“Obama had been counting on Oprah’s immense persuasive powers to help enroll millions in ObamaCare,” Klein writes. “But as the rollout turned into a disaster, Oprah didn’t lift a finger to help.”

Klein says Winfrey had been counting on the White House to include her in briefings and tip her on material she could present on her fledgling cable network, OWN.

When that didn’t happen, Klein says Winfrey declined to campaign for the president during his 2012 race and hasn’t supported Obama on issues such as gun control, immigration reform and the environment.

“The story of why Oprah has changed her tune and gone AWOL on ObamaCare goes well beyond mere gossip,” Klein writes. “It speaks volumes about the convergence of celebrity and politics under Obama and about a president who thinks nothing of using and then discarding his most loyal supporters.”
