GOP colleague rats out Ted Cruz's Cancun trip to Fox News: ‘The photos speak for themselves’

Texans awakened to another day of frigid temperatures and a deadly situation in the state. Power has begun to be restored, according to outage maps, but the state's U.S. senator abandoned them for warmer weather.

Photos surfaced online of someone resembling Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in an airport and on a plane headed to the Mexico beach town of Cancún. Multiple media requests were sent to Cruz's office and each has been ignored by his staff. But one GOP source outed Cruz to Fox News reporter Paul Steinhauser.

"The photos speak for themselves," the Republican colleague reportedly said.

"A blizzard strikes Texas & our state shuts down. Not good," Cruz tweeted on Tuesday. In the past, Cruz has mocked California for its natural disasters and requests for help.

Cruz wasn't the only leader to take off on vacation during the crisis. Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt (R) was photographed skiing in New Mexico while his state was overwhelmed by the storm.
