REVEALED: Vladimir Putin 'beefcake' calendars spawned FBI 'secret society' conspiracy theory

Republicans frenziedly touted their discovery of a Justice Department "secret society" as discussed via text message by FBI agents — but it looks like they might have been trolled.

A source familiar with the exchange between FBI agents Lisa Page and Peter Strzok told the Huffington Post that in their single-text discussion of a "secret society," the "calendars" they mentioned were gag gifts that featured "beefcake" photos of Russian President Vladimir Putin doing macho things like riding horses.

"Are you even going to give out your calendars? Seems kind of depressing,” Page texted Strzok the day after the 2016 election. “Maybe it should just be the first meeting of the secret society."

"As a joke, Strzok had purchased calendars featuring 'beefcake' photos of Vladimir Putin doing manly, tough-guy things like riding a horse," HuffPost reported.
