Deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein took an apparent shot at his possible new boss -- and signaled support for special counsel Robert Mueller.
Bill Barr, President Donald Trump's nominee to replace former attorney general Jeff Sessions, sent an unsolicited, 20-page memo earlier this year to the Justice Department complaining that Mueller's obstruction of justice probe would cause lasting damage to the presidency and the executive branch.
However, Rosenstein -- who oversees the Mueller investigation -- said Barr doesn't know what he's talking about.
"Our decisions are informed by our knowledge of the actual facts of the case, which Mr. Barr didn’t have,” Rosenstein said Thursday during the announcement of indictments against Chinese hackers.
