Rudy Giuliani files for bankruptcy and reveals debts up to $500 million

Former Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy just one day after he was ordered to immediately pay defamed Georgia election workers Shaye Moss and Ruby Freeman.

Per Bloomberg, the man formerly known as "America's Mayor" for his response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City is reporting debts of up to $500 million on assets that total no more than $10 million.

Politico's Kyle Cheney estimates that Giuliani's debts total around $153 million, the vast majority of which is owed to the election workers he defamed.

Other debts include $1 million owed in taxes and $3.5 million owed for legal representation.

In the wake of the 2020 election, Giuliani falsely accused Moss and Freeman of working to steal the election from former President Donald Trump.

A jury last week awarded a whopping $148 million verdict to Moss and Freeman, which appears to have been the final straw to push Giuliani into bankruptcy.

Giuliani is also facing criminal charges in Georgia for his efforts to overturn Trump's loss in that state.
