Sarah Sanders lashes out at 'selfish and destructive' McCabe as new book creates more headaches for Trump

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has joined her boss in bashing former Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe ahead of a book he is soon to release condemning the president.
"Andrew McCabe was fired in total disgrace from the FBI because he lied to investigators on multiple occasions, including under oath," Sanders said in a statement published on Twitter by CBS News White House correspondent Steven Portnoy.
"His selfish and destructive agenda drove him to open a completely baseless investigation into the President," the press secretary continued. "His actions were so shameful that he was referred to federal prosecutors."
"Andrew McCabe has no credibility," she concluded, "and is an embarrassment to the men and women of the FBI and our great country."
After excerpts from a 60 Minutes interview in which the former acting FBI director revealed incriminating anecdotes about Donald Trump, the president lashed out on Twitter.
"Disgraced FBI Acting Director Andrew McCabe pretends to be a 'poor little Angel' when in fact he was a big part of the Crooked Hillary Scandal & the Russia Hoax - a puppet for Leakin’ James Comey," Trump tweeted earlier on Thursday. "I.G. report on McCabe was devastating."
The president went on to suggest McCabe and others at the FBI were conspiring against him prior to his election, saying they had an "insurance policy" in the case of him winning in 2016.
