Fox News anchor Sean Hannity is no fan of reports the White House is mulling over hiking taxes on the rich.
Republicans in the White House, Senate, and House were reportedly discussing a possible new tax bracket that would raise taxes on very wealthy people — specifically those making $1 million or more per year. Bloomberg reported Tuesday the plan "signals the GOP under President Donald Trump is seriously considering ideas to raise taxes on the rich."
The House proposal would establish a new rate of 40% for taxpayers earning at least $1 million a year. Currently, it’s 37% for people earning over $626,350 a year.
Hannity, whose annual salary has been estimated at around $45 million, laid into Trump over the idea, according to a transcript of the radio show flagged Wednesday by Americans for Tax Reform.

“I just think it is bad for the economy. It seems to go against everything Donald Trump has ever believed in," said Hannity.
“I’ve been reading the same things you’ve been reading, and frankly, I just haven’t been believing it," he added.
“Pretty unbelievable to be honest," said Hannity.
He added: “What Republicans would go forward with a tax increase when they should be making the Trump tax cuts permanent, eliminating tax on tips, social security and overtime. Because that’s what the President promised. Why would they go in any other direction?”
The idea earned at least one other right-wing detractor — Americans for Tax Reform’s Grover Norquist, who said Tuesday: “It’s not going to happen."
When pressed by a reporter, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) punted on the issue.
"We’ll have to see," he said.
