Sen. Orrin Hatch suggests Trump can be indicted after leaving office -- even if Mueller declines to do so

The Senate's most senior Republican suggested on Thursday that President Donald Trump could face charges after he leaves office -- even if special counsel Robert Mueller declines to indict him while he is president.

CNN's Manu Raju asked Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) about the possibility of charges against Trump following the news that Mueller told Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani that he would follow the Justice Department policy against indicting a sitting president.

According to Raju, Hatch posited that Trump could "maybe" be indicted after he vacates the office.

"Maybe afterwards. My personal belief is there should not even be an attempt - whoever is president," Hatch said.
