In the midst of negotiations to avert a "dangerous" government shutdown, President Donald Trump tweeted a throwback video of him performing at the Emmys.
The government will shut down on Friday at midnight if the budget is not passed. Trump has withheld signing off on the budget until he gets approved funding for his border wall, which Senate Republicans are not signing off on.
"Lawmakers are scrambling at the last minute, and then you have the president teasing his Farm bill event with this tweet. What do you think of that?" CNN's Pamela Brown asked reporter Ryan Nobles.
Nobles explained that it is causing division between Trump and Senate Republicans because the president is hard to work with. He also said that people are not getting a "clear" understanding of the president's goals.
He noted that Vice President Mike Pence was at a closed-door meeting with Senate Republicans and "promised" that if they delivered a "clean and continuing resolution" that he would sign it into law.
However, Trump changed his mind.
"Now here we are and he has completely backtracked. I think it's difficult for Republicans leaders to work with the president when his mind changes so often. And when you couple it with a tweet about an old Emmys appearance it makes you wonder what he is focused on at this stage in the game," Nobles said.
"We are dangerously close to the government shutting down and this is what the president is talking about," he said.
